Chairman's Message

Dr D. Hemachandra SagarThe nation should give more to Engineering and Science: DSI has made a good beginning

The Dayananda Sagar Institutions (DSI), which is in its fifth decade offering all branches of professional programs, is optimizing its energies to emerge as a center of excellence. This integrated educational campus emphasizes a student’s learning to happen outside the classroom as much within. Learning to be beyond prescribed curriculum.

A student should constantly be exposed to new knowledge and gain insight into the future, the trends, the opportunities and new thinking which are possible with help from specialists.

This clarity at DSI has made students to stay abreast – coming out of college as men and women with complete mastery in their chosen fields of study. Learning from experts coming down from industry, research labs and universities from all over.

Visiting experts and the student community have found the ambience and facilities specially for regular classroom teaching, reference work in the libraries, experimentation in the labs and seminar halls at DSI to be world class.

Research to receive big boost

DSI has major plans to give more to engineering & science and to Bangalore. A center dedicated for study and research in these two disciplines is now ready for official launch.

DSI has been successful in collaborating with a good number of universities and centers of excellence that will allow for student & faculty exchange and joint research. The partnership with NEWI – University of Wales and the University of Abertay, Dundee in Scotland is significant. A few more such collaborations are in the offing. Our faculty can now work for doctoral degrees sitting in Bangalore. Several new branches of study are being planned at all levels.

Getting closer to industry

As an integrated education campus and having a great location advantage – of being in Bangalore, which is considered the cradle of science & information technology, we owe to ourselves to optimize all our strengths both inside DSI and in the city, for the individual growth of different disciplines. While doing so, DSI will be too happy to throw open its facilities, infrastructure, its highly talented teaching community and the large number of students for interaction and continuous learning, joint research and partnerships. Major gainers will be industry and research institutions that could plan outsourcing a good part of their work to DSI.

Industry and research institutions could minimize their own investments on infrastructure and people - as long as the out come results in academic gains to DSI. The facilities at DSI’s associate: Sagar Apollo Hospital and the various clinics across the city could also be counted as an extension of this facility.
