Department Profile
The department of MCA-VTU started in 2006, and has excelled in its teaching learning methodology and has consistent good academic track and prepares the students in a variety of areas employing various teaching and training methodologies and putting priority to the practical perspective. Students have also excelled in curricular and co-curricular activities and won laurels in competitions, intercollegiate fests.
The MCA course is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, Karnataka. Within a span of two years, the department has conducted 2 National conferences on “Vedic mathematics” and “Chandrayaana” sponsored by ISRO, AICTE, CSIR. The department has also facilitated an Exhibition from ISRO. The department is periodically organizing guest lectures/workshops and other FDP for the benefit of students and faculties.

Computer Application courses focus on the application of Computer & Communication in information collection, processing and distribution. Research and publication is part of the Post Graduate program. Faculty published papers and participated in conferences/seminars. Faculty also worked as corporatetrainers and consultants for companies and institutions, That include companies like Jindal Steels, Hospet and JNCASR, Bangalore.

The Wi-Fi enabled campus helps the student to pursue academic activities in the
calm and richly green environs. The vast repository of books in the library supported
by various technical journals being subscribed along with the digital library
ensures the holistic development of students.
The department of MCA periodically invites eminent personalities from all the
fields for a one-to-one close interaction with the students, to inspire and motivate
the students positively. Prominent academicians and dignitaries such as Dr. Omkar,
IISc, Mr. Balasubramanya, Deputy Director, Infosys (R&D), Mr. Kundu, IBM,
Mr. Sudheendra, Regional Director, IGNOU Bangalore, Sri. Unkalkar, Mr. Ramani,
Director, Software Development Division., ISRO, Prof. Guruprasad, Dept. of Electronics,
PESIT, have shared their experiences and bestowed them with thoughtful insights
into their respective fields.
The MCA club “SUNAVA” has been active in bringing out talents
of the students through many cultural and technical activities such as paper
presentations, industrial interaction, participation in technical fests,
improving communication and technical skills, etc. “SUNAVA” also
brings out the annual MCA newsletter “CHANAKYA” eliciting the
journalistic traits of the students bringing to the fore discussions and
opinions on topics varying from trends in IT to the trendy lifestyle.
The department of MCA has been a conglomeration of students from all corners
of India, depicting unity and harmony in true spirit and light.
The centre for innovation and leadership caters to the overall development
of students and trains them in all placement related activities.

The placement activity of the students starts from the beginning of Fourth semester. Thirty percent of the students were offered jobs by requested companies like ICICI, Reliance, Ernst & Young and the like.

DSI is an integrated campus offering close to a hundred courses that includes Management, Architecture, Engineering, IT, Dentistry, Paramedical Sciences, Bio-Technology, Pharmacy, Nursing and Distance Education.
