The Department started functioning from the year 1979-80. Presently, the
department has one undergraduate program (B.E) and two post graduate programs.
The two post graduate programs are:
1) Digital Electronics & Communication.
2) VLSI and Embedded system.
The department is committed to continually improve and deliver competitive quality
technical education to the utmost satisfaction of students, their parents and
potential employers.
It Started with an intake of 60. The percentage of results are
increasing year by year. The intake is increased from 60 to 130.
ISO certification and Accreditation by NBA was obtained in 2006.
E&C Graduates: Fresh graduates find opening in the telecommunication and the computer industry. A large majority of our graduates receive offers for employment at their pre final year of study. Students with a focus to enter higher studies enrol in to the PG courses in the same department at DSCE or join one of the IITs/IISc. Quite a few go overseas for higher studies and purse research
With DiGITAL REVOLUTION that has taken the world by storm, M.Tech graduates
in the Digital Electronics & Communication stream have ample and challenging
job opportunities in the county and outside. Bangalore city has been rediscovered
for its technical prowess and has been chosen to be the hub for the silicon
based Ultra Large-Scale Integrated Circuit Chip Manufacture. Job opportunities
for postgraduates are going to be very exciting and rewarding.
To ensure effective teaching, 130 students have been divided in to two sections
(Section A and B ) The students have to
have 85% minimum
attendance in all
subjects (as per VTU rules) which is being strictly followed.
The subject allotment will be done at the end of every semester. Staff
will in-turn prepare the course file for the subject which they handle. The
teachers have to prepare before the semester a lesson plan document and follow
the same during the teaching.
Course file for each subject taught is being maintained by all the staff members . It includes syllabus, lesson plan, question papers of tests, scheme of valuation , university question papers, other materials for teaching etc.. Every staff member will maintain a file along with their personal details such as degree certificates, marks cards, experience certificates, seminars attended, papers presented, University work allotments, work load of the department.
There is an R & D lab established in the department. The students are encouraged to do their projects by using the facilities in R&D lab and seven different laboratories of the department. List of Faculty members who are perusing the research work.
